FULTON COUNTY CONTINUES ITS COMMITMENT TO SUPPORT THE CREATIVE ECONOMY
1.5 Million in Grants for Arts Organizations and Non Profits
Demonstrating their continued commitment to the arts, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved $1.5 million in funding through the Fulton County Department of Arts & Culture Contracts for Services Program (CFS) supporting nonprofit art groups in Fulton County. One hundred and thirteen (113) arts and nonprofit groups were awarded contracts for the 2018 funding cycle. The contracted services include programs, events and activities proposed to occur between Jan. 1, 2018 and Dec. 31, 2018.
The Contracts for Services funding program provides unrestricted general operating and project support to nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations, arts & culture organizations, cultural institutions, colleges and universities, as well as units of government that produce or present ongoing arts programming open to the public. CFS contractors present programs that reflect the cultural diversity of the county, captures the imagination of adults, families and youth, invigorate neighborhood growth, support economic development and provides jobs.
CFS applicants are reviewed and awarded using the following evaluation criteria; artistic merit, service to the community and field, organizational effectiveness, and accessibility. Contractors are selected after a thorough evaluation by an advisory panel of professionals representing all artistic categories. The organizations that were awarded funding are projected to serve more than four million people in Fulton County. Community-based arts organizations throughout Fulton County are encouraged to apply annually for participation in the CFS Program through the Fulton County Department of Arts & Culture. Applications are reviewed by staff, the Fulton County Arts Council and the newly implemented Allocations Committee, which provides additional accountability to support the Fulton County strategic goal that “AII People's Lives Are Culturally and Recreationally Enriched" prior to submission to the Board of Commissioners.
The funding provided to chosen organizations works in concert with financial support from corporate/foundation sponsorship of arts programs and helps ensure a vibrant arts community in Fulton County.
